A weekend in Helsinki can be pretty cold and windy this time of the year, but something sets this city apart from other big cities of northern Europe. Wherever you go, you are never far from a warming sauna.



There is an abundance of options for the shivering tourist in Helsinki, and you can try everything from traditional local saunas to gas heated sauna rooms (Suvilahti Gas Sauna) and steamy sauna-tents (Lapinlahti Tent Sauna). Allas Sea Pool

This newly opened establishment in the harbour features a number of saunas and outdoor pools, where you can swim and sauna while enjoying the beautiful seaview. It’s your choice - you can bathe in the heated pools take a refreshing plunge in the salty sea. Robes can be rented and you will also find a nice restaurant here.


Right next to Alla sea Pool you will find the spectacular SkySauna, a sauna located in the large ferris wheel. SkySauna only has room for five people at a time and can be rented for private arrangements, where a jacuzzi also comes as part of the package. This is a fun and unique sauna experience - 40 meters up in the air with a magnificent view over Helsinki.


In the trendy and luxurious establishment Löyly, modern architecture meet traditional finnish sauna culture. The result is a popular sauna palace, loved by locals as well as tourists. Here you can choose between wood-fired saunas and smoke saunas, followed by a dip in the sea. A visit to the elegant restaurant on site is highly recommended.
